How to Remove Mabuhay ang Pilipinas Virus?

Today I encountered this sort of virus from one of my clients notebook. The virus says, Mabuhay ang Pilipinas in the title window then the rest of the messages says "Mabuhay din si Gloria, Si FG, si Abalos, si Chavit, si Jok-Jok, si Gonzales, at si Jose Pidal!"- You have to click OK button before you'll be able to continue to load on your windows desktop.  

There have been some post in some blogs of how to remove this annoying virus but unfortunately none of them works after I followed all the instructions. I have used and tried a couple of anti spywares, anti malware and anti virus program but none of them able to fix the problem. Here's the list of anti virus and malware I've tried: Avast Pro, Malwarebytes, Norman Cleaner, and Nod32. I've also found out that the popular NoobKiller program won't also work on this type of virus. It seems that this new virus is one pain in the head. The creator of the virus is so clever that its undetectable.

This type of virus, are transferable through flash drives or usb sticks. Its hard to get off and it consumes a lot of my time when trying to find solution but unfortunately, there's little information about this and for that it may have to take more time before someone figures it out.

As of now, there's no definite solution that you can find in the internet but if you wish to be inform for the latest updates of this virus, you may follow this blog and receive updates through email.

It looks like the said downloader is much more friendlier and easier comparing to the previous youtube video downloader that I was using before. How to open Microsoft Office 2007 Document using Microsoft Office 2003

Sony VGN-CS13M Laptop: How to open and clean processor fan

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to open Sony VGN-CS13M laptop. The problem was: it suddenly shuts off about 2-5  minutes after it starts up. I went through BIOS settings to check some settings, I'm surprised when all of the sudden, it shuts off again. That's the time that I realize that there must be something wrong relating to the power, and so I've the check the supply but it seems to be normal. Now the second thing that I had in mind is the temperature of the cpu. Based on my experience on desktop troubleshooting, any overheated processor will result to system crash and shutdown (as if you're pushing the button off).

I tried to check Sony VGN-CS13M BIOS settings but doesn't show the temperature or even the fan speed of the cpu. But later on, I realized that the fan that blows away the heat from the processor seems to be not working. I wasn't able to feel any air coming out from exhaust panel. The laptop is never been open before, I was quite hesitant because this might be still under warranty. But upon knowing from the owner that she bought it about 1 year ago from Dubai, and there's no more warranty. We later call Sony centers in Cebu, to check some info if they could be able to fix it, they said YES but it had to be shipped to Manila and will take a few weeks for repair. All in all it would cost a whopping 4000 Pesos - definitely expensive. Also if they can't fix it, you'll be charge a mind bugling 2,000 Pesos - I think that covers the shipping charges and services.

The owner had set her mind to have it open and hopefully fix it. And so I slowly started to remove all the screws at the back of the SONY VGN-CS13M. There are about 23 screws that I have unscrewed including the screws beneath the CD-ROM and the Battery. After a few minutes I was able to remove the back case. There are about 4 screws that I've remove from the processor. I found out the fan has been stocked because of the dirt, it won't work freely and though sometimes it moves but it stops again.

I have to remove the exhaust fan and it ain't that easy since any thing inside the laptop has delicate and small computer parts that might be damage during the process. So for you guys attempting to open any laptop, be sure to be gentle and discharge your body from static electricity before touching those tiny winy parts.

Below are steps on how to open your Sony VGN-CS13M Laptop:

1. Remove all the screws from the back of the laptop.

2. Remove the Battery, Hardisk and the CD-ROM.

3. Remove the screws beneath the Battery, Hard Disk and the CD-ROM.

4. Slowly remove the case to avoid damage.

Caution: Carefully remove the screws on the heatsink and also please do keep in mind that once you've remove the heasink, you may have to reapply a new thermal paste before placing it back again.

Adjusting After Power Failure on BIOS Settings

Last week, I supposedly going to blog about this new thing that I've learned from an Intel motherboard BIOS settings. The scenario on this is that when you plug on the power cord to the computer power supply, it automatically turns on even if you haven't press the power button yet. You may get to find this a little bit troublesome because on my encounter on the last computer that had this settings, I sometimes don't get a display on the monitor.

Another thing also is that, having this power settings like this could prevent you from double checking connections before pushing the power button. If you're like me, I usually double check all connections especially the memory if it's properly installed before I turn the power on. A simple mistake could damage the memory and the motherboard - that's something you don't want to mess around with.

Anyways, lets get on with the new settings and adjust the Power Failure on your intel BIOS. Below is a short  steps on how to change the BIOS settings.

1. Upon display on the screen, press F2 to proceed to BIOS. Checkout the screenshot below:

2. Inside BIOS settings, select POWER in the menu then select After Power Failure then set Power On. Checkout screenshot below:

3. After you made the settings, simply exit and save changes.

Press Y and enter to exit

How to Fix Your Computer that Won't Start

There will be a time when your computer wont' start due to hardware or component failure. You would probably hear beeping sounds which are indicator that one of the components are not functioning. If such scenario occurs, then you would probably would want to try this guide on how you could fix the problem. On my experience on computer repair, beeping sounds are cause by debris and dirt sticking on your computer parts which could hinder the transmission of power going to each components. For that, your first approach on this, is to try to clean up those dirt and debris inside the computer using high powered blowers but be sure that you unplugged all cables to avoid further damage.


If blowing and removing those debris doesn't fix the problem, you might want to try on cleaning the RAM and VGA card terminals using cloth or a simple pencil eraser. These always does magic if you do it correctly and patiently. I've done these trick so many times and most of it are successful. Well if you're unlucky, then you have to further troubleshoot your computer by simple component swapping method. How does it work? if you have spare components to swap then you could use it to test if the problem is cause by that component. If there are no other resources on fixing the problem, then I guess that you should take your computer to your nearest computer shop and let the technician figure it out for you.

1. Go to your favorite Youtube videos that you'll want to convert to MP3.

2. Simply copy the link of the video that you're watching because on the next step you'll have to paste it. To copy the link you may simply highlight the link and press CTRL - C or right click then copy. Checkout screenshot below:

4. When you're now at the website, simply paste the YouTube link that you've copied earlier on the box provided on the site. Checkout screenshot.

5. Next is to click Convert button to start converting to mp3.

6. This will now start converting Youtube to mp3. Once it finishes converting, you'll have to wait 20 seconds to automatically download the mp3 file to your computer.

Google Chrome is indeed faster comparing to mozilla firefox most especially on streaming videos from You Tube site. I like the simplicity and neatness of the new browser, and that could be one reason why its faster because their ain't unnecessary things that are hook up. I personally use this often when visiting video streaming sites like Youtube.

 Today there's a new lesson that I've learn on Google Chrome which is specifically for BLOGGER user only. If you haven't tried signing up on Blogger.com yet using Google Chrome for the first time, try it now. You'll encounter a slight problem when logging in on Google Chrome which is you can't sign in and says "Browser cookie functionality is disabled. Please enable Javascript and cookies in order to use Blogger." - checkout screenshot below:

2. Then on Install button to add the blogger extension.
